Our bedroom windows face east and we get hit hard with morning sun. So much, we could only partially open a shade on one window. The direct sunlight would hit the thermostat and cause the a/c to constantly run. As a result, the room was usually dark and the windows that sold me on the house were always covered. I had switched to a light filtering cellular shade in another room, and it worked beautifully. We've had the new light filtering trishades in our bedroom windows for a few days now and we love them! It was a pleasant surprise that the sheer part comes down all the way, because I hadn't seen a picture of that. When we want more light, the sheer part of the trishade can come down. A little less, and the light filtering part can go all the way up. Personally, I like mixing the two so the sheer is open on top, then light filtering halfway down for privacy. They are light filtering, not blackout, so there may be some shadows cast outside at night, backlit. I haven't checked that. If I'm concerned about that I can always shut the curtains. To us, it's worth having the light filtering so we can always have natural light in the room. Even the sheer part seems to cut down on the glare of the sun. Finally. Wish we had come across these sooner. I chose the shade in the latte color, with ivory for the sheer. It's a nice combination.
