I recently purchased blinds from Select Blinds and had a very frustrating experience. I ordered both light filtering blinds and these blackout blinds using the same careful measuring technique for both. The light filtering blinds fit perfectly with minimal gaps between the blinds and the wall.
However, the other set of blinds I ordered had much larger gaps that allowed a significant amount of unwanted light to come through, defeating the purpose of the blinds. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that each of the 5 blinds I had ordered was labeled as being 1/4 inch narrower than what I had measured and ordered.
When I contacted customer service, they told me I could re-order (re-purchase) the blinds at a 1/4 inch wider size, but that a deduction would be made so they would "fit well." This was not at all clear or easy to understand when I was initially measuring and placing my order. The instructions also stated that customers should not add width to compensate for this deduction.
The only way to get these blinds to fit properly would have been for me to measure 1/4 inch wider than I needed, which goes against the instructions. Given that I had already successfully measured and installed the light filtering blinds, I know my measuring technique was accurate.
Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience. I am very unhappy with the outcome and will not be purchasing from Select Blinds again in the future. The sizing issues, lack of clear communication, and seemingly contradictory instructions made this a poor customer experience.
