Instructions for Inside Mounted Zebra Shades
Depth Requirements
- Make sure your window is deep enough for an inside mount. You'll find the minimum depth requirement for inside mounted zebra shades in the specifications under the Product Info tab.
Measuring the width
- The width measurement is taken from the inside edge of the window frame at the top.
- If you are getting a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round down to the nearest 1/8”. (For example, if the smallest measurement is 24 9/16", round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
- This will be the width you order.
Measuring the height
- The height measurement is taken from the window frame in three places (top left, center, and top right down to the window sill).
- Record the largest height out of the 3 measurements up to the nearest 1/8”.
- If you are getting a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round up to the nearest 1/8”. (For Example, If the largest measurement is 24 9/16", round up to 24 5/8". If it's 24 1/2", no need to round up.)
- This will be the height you order.
We will make any necessary deductions based on the measurements you provide. Do not make your own deductions. Don’t add to the width to make up for any deductions that we will take. For more light coverage, choose an outside mount. See the chart below for automatic deductions taken at the factory on zebra shades.
Instructions for Outside Mounted Zebra Shades
Since outside mounted window coverings cover the entire window opening and the window frame, there are some additions you will need to make to order the correct size. For an outside mount, no deductions or additions are taken at the factory for you. They are made to the exact measurements you give us when ordering.
Flat surface requirements
- Make sure you have a minimum of 3/4” of flat space where you want to mount your zebra shades. Check for any other specific mounting requirements under the “Product Info” tab.
Measuring the width
- When measuring the window’s width, take your measurement across the top of the window frame.
- To that amount, add a minimum of four inches (2” on each side) to it to ensure the window is completely covered.
- Now you have the correct width to use when you’re ready to order.
Measuring the height
- When measuring the window’s height, measure from top to bottom in three places: on the left, middle and right side of the window.
- Use the largest of the three measurements and add a minimum of four inches (2" extra at the top and 2" at the bottom) to it to ensure the window will be completely covered.
- Now you have the correct height to use when you’re ready to order.
Zebra shades are a classic design choice, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Modern zebra shades offer a variety of stylish and trendy designs and patterns, so you can be sure to get the look you want, no matter your style.
