I went from a heavy wooden plantation style shutter to these beautiful no drill, motorized blinds. The fabric is light weight and the linen color is true to the online sample. They look fine with no valance. I opted to have the standard white backing as they face a back porch and that looks fine from the outside up or down. My only complaint was the installation instructions. In hindsight this was much simpler than I thought but I was given installation instruction that were overly complicated and not true to my order. I had to search for videos and go through emails and back to the website to figure it out. I also had one window slightly smaller than the other and didn’t see this notated anywhere but was able to swap the head rails around and they fit. There should be a piece of paper just showing how the head rails pop in and push the tension bar and instructions on how to release the tension to move them. The little motor was packed with a mounting kit but it also can just slide on to the head rail. The only problem I had after figuring this out was attaching the wire to the blinds. It’s on the far right side but the plug to the motor is on the left and you can’t feed the motor into the headrail in a different direction. The wire is hardly long enough to reach and trying to attach it on a ladder while holding the blinds in one hand while the motor was sliding around was difficult. There is no other way to do it except to mount it but then you are drilling and I didn’t want to do that. You can’t attach it before hanging or you won’t be able to line up the head rail and push it into place with the blinds in the way. It would be helpful to have another person but they need their own ladder! If not choosing motorized then the no drill head rail is a breeze. I have cats and didn’t want cords hanging and we do enjoy using the remote to raise and lower them. The remotes are already calibrated for the blinds and it is written on them blind 1 and blind 2.
